Maple Banana Oatmeal | Simple Healthy Recipes (vegan)

This is my favorite way to have oatmeal and it’s only 6 ingredients!

I know a couple of the ingredients seem a little fancy (maple syrup, chia seeds and flax), but I only use a little of these at a time so they last me forever! They few are good things to have in your cupboard at all times.

The only ingredients you’ll need are:

  • old fashioned oatmeal
  • banana
  • chia seeds
  • maple syrup
  • flax meal
  • almond milk (I also use soy)

I prefer old fashioned oats because they have a heartier feel to them…not all mushy like quick oats. I also enjoy steel cut oats but they take a long time so I don’t make them very often.

In the video below, I show you exactly how to monitor the oatmeal so you end up with perfect oats!

You can always double or triple the amount of oatmeal so you don’t have to make a new batch every morning. Simply mix in the other ingredients later. The oatmeal will be a bit soggier the next day, but it will still be good!

Maple Banana Oatmeal | Simple Healthy Recipes (vegan)


  • 1 c. Water
  • 1/2 c. Old Fashioned Oats
  • 1 Banana, sliced
  • 1 tsp Chia Seeds
  • 1 tsp Flax Meal
  • 1/2 tbsp Maple Syrup
  • 1/4 c. Almond Milk


  1. Heat water until boiling.
  2. Add oats and stir, then reduce heat to medium low.
  3. Continue to stir oats until most water is gone, then remove from heat.
  4. Add rest of ingredients to oatmeal and stir together and enjoy!
